Club Charters

Holy Spirit Celtic Sports Club has components within the club charter which members are required to agree to.These are:

PLAYERS’ CHARTER

Players agree to:

  • Always play to the best of my ability

  • Play fairly – I won’t cheat, complain or waste time and I will encourage my team mates not to do this either

  • Respect my team-mates, the other team, the referee or my coach/manager

  • Play by the rules, as directed by the referee

  • Shake hands with the other team and referee at the end of the game

  • Listen and respond to what my coach/ team manager tells me

  • Talk to someone I trust or the club welfare officer if I’m unhappy about anything at my club.

  • Say the ‘Our Father’ before the beginning of each game.

  • Accept responsibility for my own behaviour and performance

  • Take care of & respect playing facilities, equipment and property and dispose of litter properly. This includes official team kit; any lost or damaged items must be replaced at my parents or carers cost.

I understand that if I do not follow the Code, any/all of the following actions may be taken by my club, County FA or The FA:

I may:

  • Be required to apologise to my team-mates, the other team, referee or team manager

  • Receive a formal warning from the coach or the club committee

  • Be dropped or substituted

  • Be suspended from training

  • Be required to leave the club.

In addition:

  • My club, County FA or The FA may make my parent or carer aware of any infringements of the Code of Conduct

  • The FA/County FA could impose a fine and suspension against my club.

PARENTS' / CARERS' /SPECTATORS' CHARTER

I agree to:

  • Remember that children play football for FUN

  • Applaud effort and good play as well as success

  • Always respect the match officials’ decisions

  • Remain outside the field of play & within the Designated Spectators’ Area (where provided)

  • Let the coach do their job and not confuse the players by telling them what to do

  • Encourage the players to respect the opposition, referee and match officials

  • Avoid criticising a player for making a mistake – mistakes are part of learning

  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behaviour.

  • Adhere to the Club constitution, charters, Diocesan procedures & policies, and to the laws and rules of the FA along with the Respect & Anti Bullying campaigns as detailed on the club website.

  • Ensure that players turn up at the appointed time for training and matches wearing the appropriate clothing and in the right condition.

  • Take care of the official team kit, any lost or damaged items other than for normal wear and tear will be replaced at the players’ parents or carers cost.

  • Remember that children are my responsibility at training/matches and ensure that they get to the actual training pitch safely and accompanied where necessary.

  • Accept that the primary aim of the Club is to provide children with the opportunity to enjoy themselves through sport in the context of our Catholic community.

  • Respect the rights, dignity and value of every person within the context of the sport and in line with our Catholic values

  • Not take any photographs or video recording without seeking the agreement of the team manager(s) involved first, in accordance with FA Guidelines & Child Protection. For this & all other policies see the Child Welfare page on the sports club website.

  • Raise any concerns to the Manager or Club Child Welfare Officer.

  • Support the club and players and any social events where possible.

  • I understand that, in line with the ethos of the club; mini football will be inclusive ensuring that all players, regardless of ability, will play matches.

  • I understand that the Becket School, Edmund Campion School and Holy Spirit Celtic Sports Club cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury sustained. The Holy Spirit Celtic Sports Club recognises the need to ensure the welfare and safety of all young people in sport. In accordance with our child protection policy we will not permit photographs, video or other images of young people to be taken without the consent of the parents/carers. We adhere to FA Guidelines to ensure these are safe and respectful and used solely for the purposes they are intended for, which is promotion and celebration of the activities of the club and for training purposes.

  • I agree that U8 players & below must be signed in and out of training & games by me.

  • No A and B teams will be formed in the club with selection based purely on ability with all teams aiming to be competitive within an age group. From school year 6 it will be possible to have an A and a B team subject to a majority agreement of the managers, coaches and parents’.

I understand that if I do not follow the Code, any/all of the following actions may be taken by my club, County FA, league or The FA:

I may:

  • Issued with a verbal warning from a club or league official

  • Required to meet with the club, league or County FA Welfare Officer

  • Required to meet with the club committee

  • Obliged to undertake an FA education course

  • Obliged to leave the match venue by the club

  • Requested by the club not to attend future games

  • Suspended or have my club membership removed

  • Required to leave the club along with any dependents.

In addition:

  • The FA/County FA could impose a fine and/or suspension on the club

Parents Charter

MANAGERS', COACHES' AND ASSISTANTS' CHARTER

Coaches and managers agree to:

  • Show respect to others involved in the game including match officials, opposition players, coaches, managers, officials and spectators

  • Adhere to the laws and spirit of the game

  • Promote Fair Play and high standards of behaviour

  • Always respect the match official’s decision

  • Never enter the field of play without the referee’s permission

  • Never engage in public criticism of the match officials

  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour

  • Accept that the primary aim of the Club is to provide children with the opportunity to enjoy themselves through playing football & enhance the spirit of the Catholic community in the Diocese

  • Ensure that the ‘Our Father’ is said with the team before every game

  • Ensure that all players play a reasonable amount of football unless ill, injured or upset. As a guide each player should play a minimum of a ¼ game

  • Where possible, avoid games and training on Sundays

  • Ensure that all players playing mini football, regardless of ability, will play matches, as this is in line with the ethos of the club

  • No A and B teams will be formed in the club with selection based purely on ability with all teams aiming to be competitive within an age group. From school year 6 it will be possible to have an A and a B team subject to a majority agreement of the managers, coaches and parents’.

When working with players, I will:

  • Place the well-being, safety and enjoyment of each player above everything, including winning

  • Explain exactly what I expect of players and what they can expect from me

  • Ensure all parents/carers of all players understand these expectations

  • Never engage in or tolerate any form of bullying

  • Develop mutual trust and respect with every player to build their self-esteem

  • Encourage each player to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance

  • Ensure all activities I organise are appropriate for the players’ ability level, age & maturity

  • Co-operate fully with others in football (eg officials, doctors, physiotherapists, welfare officers) for each player’s best interests

  • Ensure that all U8 players & below must collected by their custodial parent/guardian or persons authorised by such parent/guardian

  • Avoid one to one” situations (ie one unsupervised adult with one unaccompanied child)

  • Ensure that all volunteers working with or who might come into contact with children (including children engaged as volunteers) undergo CRB checks

  • That any incidents potentially leading to any further action are reported to the club secretary who will maintain an up to date accident and incident book

I understand that if I do not follow the Code, any/all of the following actions may be taken by my club, County FA, league or The FA:

I may be:

  • Required to meet with the club, league or County Welfare Officer

  • Required to meet with the club committee

  • Monitored by another club coach

  • Required to attend an FA education course

  • Suspended by the club from attending matches

  • Suspended or fined by the County FA

  • Required to leave or be sacked by the club

In addition:

  • My FACA (FA Coaches Association) membership may be withdrawn

CONSENT

Consent

In order to maintain standards within our club we have charters for players, parents and coaches. By signing below you are confirming that you have read, understood and will abide by the terms and conditions of these charters. By signing the photo graphic consent you are giving the HSCFC the right to take and use photographs for publicity, including the local community, press releases both local and nationally and for display on the club website.
